EIGHT LEADERSHIP ESSENTIALS
1. BE STRONG (V1)
Leadership must be exercised from a place of strength. The source of the leaders strength is "the grace that is in Christ Jesus". Dunamis power in the inner man. Eph. 3:14-21.
2. COMMUNICATE (V2)
Leaders are communicators. Leaders have something to say and they say it in a way to create change. Leaders communicate to influence people and situations.
3. ENDURE HARDSHIPS (V3)
The life of a leader is not easy - there are oppositions, some violent. The leader must be armed with a military wartime mentality and serve as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. The rewards will be worth it.
4. AVOID DISTRACTIONS (V4)
The leader must avoid becoming "entangled" that he might please him who enlisted him. The leader must be "engaged" rather than distracted. Demos became entangled and was found A.W.O.L. (2Tim. 4:10). If the enemy can't destroy you he will settle for distracting you.
5. INTEGRITY (V5)
Integrity is an essential quality in leadership. Leaders who run their race lawfully will be crowned. The pressure of ministry will expose any fault-lines in our character. When all else fails, character will prevail.
6. WILLING TO WORK (V6)
Leadership is work - often hard work. A farmer works hard to produce a harvest. The leader must work equally as hard. The leader must be first to partake of the fruit he seeks to produce in others.
7. USE THEIR MIND (V7)
Leaders use their sanctified mind to reason, meditate and create. In the "process" the Lord gives revelation, understanding and insight.
8. CONFIDENCE IN THE GOSPEL (V8-11)
Leaders have experienced the power of the gospel in their own life and are confident that it will produce effectively in the life of those who hear them. The leader's confidence rests on thefaithfulness of God.
